EMA101 - R. SAYER "Orbis Romani Pars Orientalis" London. 1764. Colored. 26X21. Fine chart shows Greece, Turkey, the Aegean Sea, Constantinople, the Black Sea, Crete & Cyprus and the eastern end of the Mediterranean. Locates the coast of Syria and Palestine, Arabia, Alexandria, Egypt and the Nile River and the coast of North Africa to Libya and the harbors of Cirene and Bengazi. Title is in a decorative cartouche with leaf, and scroll motifs surmounted by an eagle with outspread wings.

EMA102 - LAURIE & WHITTLE "Asiae, quae vulgo minor Dicitur et Syriae" London 1794.  Colored outlines. 19˝X24. Large map features the Black Sea, the Aegean Sea, Turkey, Armenia, Syria, Mesopotamia and a small portion of Russia. The islands of Cyprus and Crete in the Mediterranean.. Locates many place names and harbors, lakes, rivers and elevations and offshore islands in the Aegean. Inset shows the island of Lesbos and the coast of Turkey.

EMA103 - J. PLAYFAIR "Asia Minor Drawn & Engraved for Dr. Playfair's Atlas." Edin. 1821. Outline color. 18X21. Map includes the Mediterranean Sea, Crete & Cyprus. Turkey, the Black sea, the Sea of Marmara (Propontis), Constantinople & Syria. Depicts elevations & rivers, harbors, cities & towns.Map titles are printed in Latin to correspond to ancient useage.(Chart has some overall age-toning which could be removed by a professional paper conservator.)

EMA104 - J. PLAYFAIR "Modern Asia Minor Drawn & Engraved for Dr.Playfair's Atlas." Edin. 1821. Colored. 17˝X21. This is the same map as EU139A above, but brought up to date c.1821 with titles printed in the language of each country to conform to current useage, or 'modern' as noted. (Chart has some overall age-toning but is otherwise in good condition.)

EMA105 - P. LAPIE “Asia Mineure. Armenie, Caucase, Syrie etc.” Paris. 1812. Colored. 8˝X11˝. Finely engraved map shows Turkey and the Black Sea Coast with the Provinces, Divisions, States of Armenia, Galatia, Paphagonia, Ciheia, Tibarem, Mehtene, Taurus, Sophene, & Mesopotamia (now Iraq) & Syria. Locates Turkey's seacoast and the islands of Rhodes and Lesbos, Crete and Cyprus. Includes a title cartouche on a stone block, topped by a female figure surrounded by trees. Published by Conrad Malte Brun (1775-1826) in “Atlas Complet Du Precis de la Geographie Universelle” & prepared by Pierre Lapie (1777-1850) a well known surveyor and cartographer.

Large sheet depicts 4 inset charts. 1. Athlit. Ancient Castellum Peregrinorum. Surveyed by F. B. Chtistian. Master. R.N. , 2. Kaisariyeh. Ancient Caesarea. Surveyed by F. J. Gray. 2nd Master R.N., 3. Yafa. Ancient Joppa or Japho. Surveyed by Lieut G. D. Bedford. R.N., 4. Probable Site of the Port of Yebnah. Surveyed by Lieut. F. G. D. Bedford. R.N. The charts are intensely detailed and above Yafa is a finely engraved view from the Northern Rock showing buildings and a castle along the shore with a sailing vessel approaching the Port. The view was taken from the anchorage. Chart #1847.

Surveyed by E. W. Brooker R.N. under the Direction of Commdr. A. L. Mansell R.N. 1858.” London. 1860. Corrections to 1872. Variations in 1885 decreasing 4'annually. 25˝X18. B/W. . Both charts have a finely engraved “View From the Anchorage” at the top, and the location of the charts is on the southern coast of Turkey. Chart #2791.
