- U. S. COAST SURVEY “St. Catherine's Sound. Georgia.”
Wash. D.C. 1867. B/W. 22X29. Chart shows the Sound &
the North Newport River, Walbur Creek, Cedar Creek, the Medway River,
Ossabaw Island, Bear River & depicts thousands of depth soundings
throughout the region. The chart includes detailed navigational notes on
tides & soundings & abbreviations of bottoms. This is a fine chart in
very good condition.

- E. & G. W. BLUNT “Savannah River. From It's Mouth to the City of
Savannah by John Le Conte. Top. Eng. 1827.”
New York. 1827. B/W/ 7X16. Finely engraved chart of
the River from Savannah & Forts Hayne & Jackson to Fig, Gibbet, Jones &
Long Islands where it continues to Cock Spur & Tybee Islands. A
lighthouse is indicated on Tybee Island, above low water areas near the
entrance to the incoming channels. Depth soundings are noted along the
river's length, which is full of shoals & sandbars along the shore &
around the islands. A compass pointer is located on the chart as an aid
to mariners navigating the area. Published by E. & G. W. Blunt for the
American Coast Pilot in 1827, the chart was engraved by William Hooker.
(The chart was engraved on a fine paper stock & is in good condition
with old folds pressed flat.)

Wash. D.C. 1856. Colored. 17X24. Excellent coastal
chart shows St. Simon's Island & Sound, Jekyl Island, Buzzards Roost
Island, Colonel's Island & Blythe Island. Depicts hundreds of depth
soundings, & indicates courses for navigators entering the area from
offshore & includes sailing directions for St. Simon's Sound & Brunswick
Harbor. A finely drawn mid 19th century government chart.

- U. S. TOPOGRAPHICAL BUREAU “Map of the Country Embracing the Various
Routes Surveyed for the Western & Atlantic Rail Road of Georgia. Under
the Direction of Lieut. Col. S. H. Long. Chief Engineer.”
Wash. D.C. 1837. B/W. 8X21½. This horizontal map
shows the proposed lines of survey for the establishment of a railroad
system in Georgia's northwestern regions. The area covered is from the
Chattahoochee River north through the counties of Forsyth, Hebokee,
Cass, Murray, Gilmer & Walker. In 1837 the U. S. Topographical Engineers
were busy laying out surveys for the railroads through all the eastern
states with the intent to connect all the major cities & towns. This
railroad plan for northwestern Georgia would ultimately connect that
part of the state with Atlanta & all the coastal regions to the south. A
fine survey.

NY. 1861. Colored. 17X24. Striking map of both States
with counties in different colors, shows Georgia's east coast down to
it's border with Florida & Florida's Gulf Coast region, & includes
Georgia's west coast border with Alabama depicting Mobile Bay & the
offshore islands to Chandeleur Bay & part of Mississippi. In top left is
a sketch of Tuscaloosa Observatory & in top right is a view of a rice
mill on the Savannah River. An attractive & decorative map.
