GR102 - J. PLAYFAIR "Graecia Antiqua Drawn & Engraved for Dr. Playfair's Atlas" Edin. 1821.Colored. 21X17½. Large chart with Latin titles to conform to ancient usage shows Greece with it's islands, the Aegean Sea, part of Turkey, the Black Sea with Constantinople called Byzantium. Elevations and rivers are clearly marked showing harbors & principal cities & towns. (Chart has some overall age-toning but is otherwise in good condition.)

GR104 - Choiseul-Gouffier "Carte Generale De L'Ile De Paros" Paris 1782-1822. B/W. 13X8. Handsome chart of the island of Paros due north of Crete in the Aegean Sea. Shows island and shoreline topography with principal harbors. Port de Marmora, Port de Naussa, Parechia, Port de Treo. Locates Mt. Capresso, Acosta, Chiefalo; and many soundings around the coast. Includes the west coast of the island of Naxos. Title is in a decorative cartouche with leaf & flower motifs with angels in the garland.

GR108 - Choiseul-Gouffier "Carte De L'Ile De Metelin autrefois Lesbos et Du Golfe D'Adramyti" Paris 1782-1822. B/W. 13X14. Finely engraved chart shows the island of Lesbos in the Aegean Sea off the west coast of Turkey with a very detailed shoreline topography showing harbors, points, bays, anchorages & many soundings throughout. Chart is decorated with 3 attractive scenes of ancient Greek ruins on Lesbos - columns, aqueduct and a bas relief.

GR109 - J. ROUX "Plan De L'Isle Spine Longue sur L'Isle Candie" Paris 1764. 5X7. Colored outlines. The northeast coast of Crete locating Cape Sidre, Port Spine Longue, Port Mirabeau, Cap St. Jean. Shows anchorages & soundings in harbors. Includes compass rose.

GR112 - CHOISEUL-GOUFFIER "Carte de L'Isle de Skyros" Paris 1782-1822. B/W. 6X9. Finely engraved chart of the island of Skyros off the east coast of Greece in the Aegean Sea, shows ship anchorage & shoals in the harbor of St. George and Port De La Grande Plage. Locates Mt. St. Elie and convent, rivers, bays & inlets and many soundings around the island. Includes an attractive title cartouche with shield, dagger & helmet & decorative compass rose.

GR115 - J. ROUX "I. Corfu" Paris 1764. 5X8. B/W. Chart shows an early depiction of the island of Corfu off the west coast of Greece, with soundings & anchorages. Locates principal harbors and inlets, & includes a decorative compass rose.

GR116 - R. LAPIE (Attributed) La Laconie, La Messénie et L'Ile de Cythère Paris c. 1820. Colored. 6X8¼. Attractive small chart of the southern end of the Peloponnesos (Greece) and below it the island of Cythère, (Kythera). Depicts the Gulf of Laconia & the Gulf of Messina. The city of Sparte and Mt. Menelaion; Megalopolis, Triphylie & the Gulf of Argon (Argolis). This small chart is finely engraved and detailed.

GR118 - BRITISH ADMIRALTY Mediterranean Archipelago. The Islands of Kos, Niseros and Piskopi. By Commander Thomas Graves in H.M.S. Beacon. 1841. London 1848 (Updated to 1965.) B/W. 25X19. Intensely detailed chart of the 3 islands in the Dodecanese Group between Greece and Turkey in the Aegean Sea includes both topographical and hydrographical details with all major harbors located. The islands are surrounded by very detailed depth soundings in fathoms and is an excellent navigational chart for mariners sailing through the islands off the coast of Turkey in the southern Aegean Sea region. Chart #1898.

GR119 - BRITISH ADMIRALTY Mediterranean. Grecian Archipelago. London 1863. (updated to 1966.) B/W. 26X39. Splendid chart shows the Grecian coastal regions with islands from Athens & Salamis Bay down to the island of Kriti (Crete) which is depicted in large scale. Includes the Cyclades and the coast of Turkey with the Dodecanese Islands, Scarpanto and Rhodes. Hundreds of depth soundings in fathoms are depicted offshore and around the islands and the chart has both topographical and hydrographical details. Fine. Chart #2836.

GR120 - BRITISH ADMIRALTY Archipelago. Skyros Island. Surveyed by Capt. Thomas Graves. H.M.S. Volage. 1848. London. 1851 (updated to 1954.) B/W. 19½X24. Fine chart shows Skyros in large scale, surrounded by depth soundings. Locates Kalamitza Bay & Valaxa Island & depicts the harbor of Skyros with a dotted area indicating cultivated fields & settlements. Chart has both topographical and hydrographical details and is a fine mid 19th century chart with updates. Chart #2048

GR122 - BRITISH ADMIRALTY “Asia Minor. Gulf of Kos. Shehir Oghlan Islands. Surveyed by Comr. Saumarez Brock. H.M.S. Magpie. 1838.” London. 1844. (corr. to 1882.) B/W. 10½10. Interesting chart of present day Cos in the Dodecanese (Greece) in the Aegean Sea, which gave it's name to Cos lettuce and was the birthplace of Hippocrates. This fine chart shows hundreds of depth soundings around the islands, with land noted as ”uncultivated, but with rich soil abounding in clover” and many areas of thick shrub and pine trees. Engraved by J & C Walker. Chart #1535.

GR123 - P. LAPIE “Grece Ancienne.” Paris. 1812. Colored. 9X12. Fine map of the Grecian Archipelago and the Aegean Sea with all the islands as they were known in ancient times. Locates Athens and the islands of Rhodes, Scarpanto (Carpathus), Icaria, Lemnos, Samothrace, Lesbos, Samos & Crete. The title in lower left is placed at the top of a pillared building which has a Grecian statue inset between the columns. Engraved by J. B. M. Chamouin, the map was published under the direction of Capt. Pierre Lapie (1777-1850) geographer to King Louis XVIII, and topographer to the French War Department, and issued in “Atlas Complet Du Precis De La Geographie Universelle” by Conrad Malte-Brun (1775-1826) in Paris. 1812.
