“Carte du
Groenland Dressee et Gravee par Laurent”. Paris. 1770. Colored. 7½X10.
Finely drawn and engraved chart of Greenland & Iceland by an eminent
French engraver (J. Laurent) shows the Detroit de Davis (Davis Strait,)
and a portion of Baffin Island in Northeast Canada. Depicts many harbors
around Greenland's coast with inlets & bays. Inland mountains appear to
the north and east. The Denmark Strait between Greenland and Iceland is
simply named Mer Glaciale (Icy Sea), and the Arctic Circle bissects
Greenland and stretches across the northern coast of Iceland. This fine
chart was included in De La Harpe's Voyages in 1780. An excellent chart.

of Iceland surrounded by thousands of depth soundings in fathoms all
around the coast. Locates all major harbors, bays & inlets & shows
Reykjavik on the southwest coast. Includes navigational notes on
currents, bearings, courses & soundings and shows a listing of Tidal
Streams. This is a very fine chart of Iceland n good condition, with 2

southwest coast. Includes 3 very detailed inset charts 1.) Heimaey Havn.
2.) Faxafloi Budir & 3.) Exrarrakki, all showing soundings & harbor
details. An excellent chart with 2 folds in good condition.
