Phila. 1850. Colored. 11¼X15½. Finely detailed map of the State shows
counties in different colors and depicts cities, towns, villages,
canals, roads and railroads. Includes 2 inset maps 1. Environs of
Knoxville and 2. Environs of Nashville plus listings of Steam Boat
Routes from 1. Nashville to Pittsburg, Pa, 2. Florence to New Orleans
and 3. Nashville to New Orleans. The land distances from town to town
are noted along the roads. From Cowperthwait's “A
New Universal Atlas.” Published in
Philadelphia in 1850 and based on the earlier map by Tanner of 1836. |

Browning.” NY. 1862. Colored. 17X24. Large (double folio) map shows
the 2 States in fine detail with counties in different colors. Depicts
cities, towns & settlements, roads, rivers, railroads, lakes and
mountains. Includes 3 finely engraved vignettes 1.) State House,
Nashville, 2.) Navy Yard, Memphis, 3.) Entrance to the Mammoth Cave.
Includes a decorative border frame. The map was published in Johnson's
New Illustrated Family Atlas compiled and enlarged under the Supervision
of J. H. Colton and A. J. Browning in 1862. |

- J. BIEN “Topographical Map of the Battle of Nashville, Tenn. 15th &
16th. Dec. 1864.” NY. 1891. Colored. 16½X27. Fine Civil War map of
Nashville shows a street block plan of the City encircled by the
Cumberland River. Depicts the tracks of the Nashville & Chattanooga
Railroad & the Tennessee-Alabama Railroad. Locates Forts Negley &
Casino, the School House & includes names of property owners, & shows
cultivated land in between turnpike roads. Also included on the map
sheet are some small maps depicting the Battle of Franklin, Tenn. &
another map of a portion of the Battle of Nashville. The topography on
the map is well-drawn & very detailed & presents a fine view of
Nashville & it's surrounding countryside in the late 19th century.
Published by Julius Bien (1826-1909) a foremost lithographer & printer
the map was issued in “The Atlas to Accompany the Official Records of
the Union & Confederate Armies. 1861-1865.”
