Includes a list of Governors from 1653-1821 and Civil Divisions & Population from 1790-1820. The map shows counties in different colors and includes a decorative compass rose in top right. This fine map covers Ward No.2 from Coddington Point and Newport Harbor to Middletown locating and naming property owners and the sizes of their holdings. Shows Coddington Avenue, Malbone Road, Farewell Street and the track of the New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad and the Old Colony System, Providence Division. A reference table at the top of the map shows symbols for iron, brick, wood, and stone buildings, a hot house, street car railroad, fire hydrants, sewers and public and private streets. Cotton and Worsted Mills, Narragansett Machine Co. & the Dexter Land Co. property and a number of private estates with their acreages and names of property owners. The track of the New York New Haven and Hartford Railroad is depicted crossing the City, as well as street car routes and the Moshassuck Valley Railroad. RI-158 - EVERTS & RICHARDS City of Pawtucket. Plate. 4. Phila. 1895. Colored. 20X30. This fine city plan shows Memorial Park in center and the Ten Mile River flowing southward from the Brook Street crossing down to the E. H. Reynolds property and the Rumford Chemical Works. The rest of the plan shows privae properties and estates with names of owners and sizes of acreages, and the Boston and Newport Road runs through the City center from north to south bordered on its western side by street block plans and on its east side by the Memorial Park. Excellent city plan bordered on the west side by the Oak Grove and Walnut Hill Cemeteries and on ithe east side by the Ten Mile River and the State boundary of Massachusetts. Hammonds Pond is located in lower left and Brook Steet and Central Avenue are the primary roads crossing the City bordered by private estates and properties with names of owners and sizes of acreages. Depicts Districts in different colors and locates private properties with owners names and shows many smaller towns like Ocean Cottage, Vue Deleau, Cedar Grove, Omega, Leonard's Corner and Bullocks Neck. Includes 2 inset maps showing enlargements of Omega and East Providence and in lower right is a listing of East Providence's Business Owners with their names and types of factories and plants. Depicts Districts in different colors and locates Allendale, Fruit Hill, Centerdale, Woodville, Manton Village, Lyman's Mill, Greystone, & Dyersville.Also indicates private properties with owners names and shows roads and railroads and the Seekonk River. RI-166 - U. S. COAST & GEODETIC SURVEY United States. East Coast. Rhode Island - Connecticut- New York. Block Island Sound and Approaches. Wash. D.C. 1941 (1944). Colored. 40X33½. Fine chart shows Block Island off the coast of Rhode Island, and New York's Long Island at Montauk Point. Includes Gardner's Island, Plum Island, Great and Little Gull Islands & Fisher's Island off the coast of Connecticut. The Connecticut shore is shown from Nianrtic Bay to New London, Mystic, Stonington and thence to Watch Hill Point (Rhode Island) and Point Judith near the entrance to Narragansett Bay. The chart is dotted with hundreds of depth soundings and depicts both topographical and hydrographical details, and includes courses and navigational notes on radio beacon signals, improved channels and Fish Trap areas. The chart is a little dusty from use and has some folds but is overall in good condition. #1211.

Westport, Mass, and 3.) Point Judith, Harbor of Refuge, R.I. Each chart shows shoreline contours, depth soundings, anchorages, courses and sailing lines, and the Sakonnet River chart depicts Tiverton Four Corners, Windmill Hill, Little Compton Church Spire and Church Cove, and small islands at the Sakonnet River entrance. The Westport chart shows Westport Harbor, Horse Neck Pont and beach and Westport Point, and the Point Judith chart was included as a “Harbor of Refuge for mariners rounding the Point into Narragansett Bay from Long Island Sound, needing a safe anchorage and a way upriver to Wakefield. RI-173 A & B - S. T. LIVERMORE “Map of Block Island” Hartford, CT. 1882-86. B/W. 14X11½. Map shows The Neck, The Great Pond, The West and East Sides & Block Island Bay. Depicts roads leading to and past dwellings, hotels & commercial buildings and locates churches, cemetery, mineral springs, windmill, Sandy Point Lighthouse, Mohegan Bluffs, Pilot Hill and Beacon Hill. Includes a booklet titled “Block Island. Map and Guide, and A History (Abridged).” written by the Rev. S. T. Livermore A.M. The booklet contains a detailed text about the island's history and a guide to the hotels, and includes engraved views of the hotels and prominent island features along with a portrait of the Rev. Livermore. The map was drawn by J. C. Thompson, Providence, R.I. who also provided a small inset chart of Mass. Conn. & R.I. showing the position of Block Island The condition of the map is excellent, but the booklet has had some minor repairs to the binding. This is a rare issue.

This is a fine chart of the Bay from it's approaches by sea from Point Judith Neck and the Western Passage to Conanicut Island & Jamestown & over to Newport, & the Sakonnet River. Depicts Hen & Chicken's Ledge, Warren Point and Westport Point. In the Upper Reaches of the Bay the chart shows Prudence Island, Bristol, Warwick Neck, Warren, Fall River, Gaspee Point & W. This attractive early map was drawn under the direction of Samuel Lewis (c.1754-1822) a Philadelphia geographer, publisher, draughtsman and “writing master.” His cartographic work was extremely prolific as he was the official draughtsman to the Lords Commissioners for Trade & Plantations and he provided maps for dozens of atlases & publications. He was also an Aide to General George Washington. This attractive map was published in “A New and Elegant General Atlas” printed by John Conrad for Arrowsmith & Lewis & engraved by A. Lawson.

Attractive vintage map of Rhode Island shows small block plan of Providence with the College, all of Narragansett Bay with Conanicut Island & block plan of Newport. Depicts Warren, Pawtuxet, Mt. Hope & Mount Hope Bay, the Sakonnet River called East Passage, North Kingstown, Prudence Island & Pt. Judith at the entrance to the Bay. Locates rivers & ponds, townships & county boundaries & includes the northern tip of Block Island offshore. A decorative compass rose with fleur-de-lys pointer and a mileage scale are drawn in lower right. The map is considered to be the first American map of Rhode Island. Drawn by Harding Harris from surveys & observations of Caleb Harris, it was published in Mathew Carey's “General Atlas” in Philadelphia in 1796. No. 29. (Ref. Depicts Prudence Island & Light, Bristol Harbor & Mount Hope Bay. Locates Portsmouth with an interesting note on coal mines on it's northwest shore. The survey is dotted with notes on reefs, rocks, lights, buoys & beacons & ferries & inland shows roads & railroads and all major towns & harbors. Published by George W. Depicts Fort Adams & Brenton's Cove, Coaster's harbor Island & Coddington's Cove, Jamestown Island with ferries connecting it to Dutch Island & Newport across Narragansett Bay. The chart is dotted with hundreds of depth soundings & Brenton's Reef is drawn at the entrance to the Bay where a large compass rose with radiating rhumb lines is situated as an aid to mariners approaching the coast prior to entering Narragansett Bay from offshore waters. Published by E. & G. W. Blunt in 1838 & included in their American Coast Pilot of 1841. The chart was engraved by William Hooker.

The map depicts street block plans & the routes of the 2 steamboat lines, the Fall River Line & the Newport Line, circling the harbor. Includes wharves & piers & offshore islands, beaches, casino, the State House & the Club House, Jamestown & the Jamestown Ferry. This little gem of a booklet has an index of places under the map, and a colorful front cover that depicts 2 large sailboats racing off Newport Harbor. Printed by Rand Avery in 1902 it was published for the Passenger Dept. of the New York, New Haven & Hartford Railroad.

This fine map of Block Island depicts Districts in different colors & shows Sandy Point Light, Sachems Pond, Salt Pond, roads, all major towns & villages & Old Harbor Point. Includes names of property owners & on one side of the map sheet is a highly detailed Business Directory listing the names of attorneys, booksellers, butchers, grocery & hardware merchants, city officers, coal & wood dealers, druggists, hotels, physicians etc. The overall map provides a great insight into life on Block Island in the late 19th century. Small, but very detailed chart depicts a block plan of Newport Harbor with wharves & piers, across Narragansett Bay from Conanicut Island (Jamestown). Shows Coaster's Island Harbor, Fort Adams on the Neck, Rose Island, Goat Island & Dutch Island. Hundreds of depth soundings are indicated in the Bay & around the islands, indicating course lines & a compass rose is placed in lower right as an aid to mariners entering Narragansett Bay from offshore. The chart was drawn in 1847 for the 16th Edition of Edmund Blunt's “American Coast Pilot.” Then reduced & engraved by William Hooker for the 1850 Edition. Edmund March Blunt (1770-1862) was a well-known publisher of charts & pilots in the early 19th century, & his “American Coast Pilot” went through many editions from 1796-1867. This is an attractive chart in very nice condition.

Small but very detailed map of Newport & part of Narragansett Bay compiled by the U.S. Corps of Engineers from a U.S. Coast Survey chart of 1884. Depicts Conanicut Island, Coasters Island harbor, Coddington Cove, Rose Island & Goat Island off Newport Harbor, with the location of a U.S. Torpedo Station. Many depth soundings are indicated in the Bay & the map includes an inset titled Newport & Vicinity. This is an attractive little chart of Newport & Narragansett Bay.
