Chart shows the Observatory on the Texas border of the entrance and Bagdad on the Mexico shore. Many soundings appear in the River &
offshore in the Gulf of Mexico. Includes detailed navigational notes on
tides, soundings & variations. Very good condition. |

Sheet. Texas. Austin Quadrangle.” Wash. D.C. 1901. Printed color.
18X16½. Wonderfully detailed map shows the City of Austin in center with
street block plans and the Colorado River flowing around the City.
Locates Mt. Barker, Mt. Bonnel, the City Dam, Sieder Springs, Saint
Edwards College, Montopolis, Chatauqua Lone Tree, Fiskville, Duval,
Spicewood Springs and depicts lakes and ponds, roads & buildings,
trails, railroads, bridges, ferries, fords, dams, elevations and County
Lines. Includes many small villages and settlements in the outskirts of
Austin and throughout the region. This finely drawn and engraved map was
surveyed under the direction of Henry Gannett, Chief Topographer &
originally surveyed in 1895-1896. This edition was published in 1901.

Excellent map shows Counties in different colors & all major cities,
towns & harbors. Includes a section of New Mexico in upper left and an
inset in lower left titled “Galveston Bay & Vicinity.” The Gulf Coast is
depicted from the Sabine Pass to Galveston and Matagorda Bay, Espiritu
Santo Bay, & Corpus Christi Bay to Isla del Madre. This attractive map
has a decorative border frame and was published in “Mitchell's New
General Atlas” in Philadelphia in 1870. |

New York. 1891. Colored. Litho. 17X27¼. Map shows the Gulf Coast of
Texas from Sabine Lake & River to Galveston and Galveston Island, down
to Matagorda Bay, Port Lavaca, Trespalacios Bay & Powderhorn Bay, to the
San Antonio River & Hynes Bay. Inland map shows Houston & railroads
connecting it to the central regions of the State. Locates Austin City
on the Colorado River & depicts many small towns with Post Offices,
areas of pine & oak forest, bayous and the Brazos River. The map was
published by Julius Bien & Co, for “The Atlas to Accompany the Official
Records of the Union & Confederate Armies 1861-1865.” |

Topographical Engineers Chiefly for Military Purposes. 1857.”
NY. 1891. Colored. 16½X27. This fine map is a compilation of surveys
performed by the U.S. Corps of Engineers during the 1840's as the region
was being developed and settled. The map shows towns, villages &
harbors, many forts, rivers & elevations, roads & tracks. Locates El
Paso & Santa Fe, Fredericksburg, Sabine City, Galveston, Matagorda,
Corpus Christi, La Salle & the Gulf of Mexico coast to Brownsville.
Published by Julius Bien (1826-1909) a foremost lithographer, for
inclusion in the “Atlas to Accompany the Official Records of the Union &
Confederate Armies 1861-1865”. Excellent detail. |

of Topographical Bureau of Texas, New Mexico & Arizona. Drawn by P.
Helferich, Asst. Eng. 1864.” NY 1891.
Colored. 16½X27. This fine map of the Texas Coast is drawn from Sabine
City & Galveston Bay to Matagorda Bay & Peninsula & continues to
Espiritu Santu Bay & Corpus Christi, the Salt Lagoon, Laguna Madre &
Padre Island finally ending at the Customs House at the entrance to the
Rio Grande River & Brownsville. Of further interest is an inset map
depicting Galveston & the Galveston & Houston Railroad. Surrounding the
primary map, are a number of small inset maps of Civil War Defenses in
Virginia & one map titled “Schofield Crossing the Chattahoochee River”
from the original map in the possession of General W. T. Sherman.
Published by Julius Bien (1826-1909) a well known lithographer, the map
was included in the “Atlas to Accompany the Official Records of the
Union & Confederate Armiers. 1861-1865.” Excellent detail. |

of Galveston with wharves & commercial buildings. Depicts Offattt's
Bayou, the cemetery, hospital, depot, foundry & the railroad. Locates
Fort Magruder, Fort Point, Forts Bankhead & Jackson, Bolivar & Virginia
Points & Pelican Island & Spit. The map includes 2 additional insets 1.)
Defenses of Charleston Harbor, S.C. depicting Morris Island & 2.) Port
Hudson, L.A. & Vicinity on the Mississippi River. Published by Julius
Bien (1826-1909) a foremost lithographer & printer, the map was issued
in “The Atlas to Accompany the Official Records of the Union &
Confederate Armies. 1861-1865.”

Phila. 1876. Colored. 23X15. Large handsome map of the State with the
Indian Territory, shows counties in different colors, hundreds of
cities, towns, settlements & harbors. The Indian Territory is a large
area in the northeastern part of the State and in the west is
undeveloped land called Young Territory. Includes 3 inset maps 1.)
Western Part of Texas, 2.) Austin, & 3.) Galveston. The sea coast on the
Gulf of Mexico is depicted from Sabine Lake down to Galveston, Matagorda
Bay, Corpus Christi, & ending at Laguna De La Madre & Brownsville. This
fine map, in very good condition, was published in “Gray's Atlas of the
United States.1874-1876.” |
